Childlike Faith

Today during school with my 1st grader (we homeschool), we were talking about our nation and the many freedoms we have, and while I was explaining ‘freedom of worship’ Kyera looked at me confused and asked, “what do you mean? Can’t everyone worship God?” I went on to tell her that many parts of the world like China for example, christians have to meet in underground churches just to worship Jesus or they could get thrown into prison or worse.

Tears welled up in my 6 year old daughter’s eyes.

And she said, “But mommy! Don’t they know that God is REAL?!? Why would they do that?”

So we talked about how important it is to be thankful to live in a place where we can talk about our faith and beliefs freely. And then she said….
“I am going to ask God to show up really BIG in China so that they can ALL see Him and see that He is REAL!”

Childlike Faith. Right?

My entire rest of the day was changed because the powerful simplicity that my little girl shared with me moved me to PRAY.

Isaiah 59:16 says, “The Lord saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no justice. He saw that there was no man and wondered that there was NO ONE TO INTERCEDE.”

Why don’t we intercede so God can move?

No, really….just think about that for a minute. Why aren’t we praying like there are souls in need of Jesus all around the world? Why aren’t we pleading God to reveal Himself to the persecutors, the lost, blind, and dying souls?

My 6 year old is. All it took was for her little ears to hear about people she doesn’t even know across the planet having to praise Jesus in secret and her heart chose to intercede.

Her childlike faith is a good reminder of how big our God is. Gives me hope and faith that God may just do something big because He heard that little girl’s prayers. The Bible says we only need faith the size of a mustard seed and He can move mountains.

Be encouraged today that we have been given the power to make a change.
It’s IN us. God is waiting on us to come to Him on our knees in prayer for people, for the nations, for souls. He is searching the earth wondering where are those that seek after Him and intercede for Him to move. Let’s PRAY. Let’s ask God to make Himself known in China, in Japan, in Tibet, in Africa, in America…..and to the WORLD.

And when we boldly approach His throne with His heart welled up inside ours, yet we are searching for the words to say, words that even give justice…..we need to remember this:

“…the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” – Romans 8:2

So Intercede. Pray. Ask. Plead.
Let’s allow our hearts to be broken for the things that break God’s heart. To have tears for the saints, heartache for the persecuted, and a genuine, growing desire to reach the lost with God’s love and eternal promise.
